Like all school buses, this one was yellow, but, instead of children, George Van Beek packed his with a soil mixture he had developed on his family’s farm. An ideal combination of topsoil, fibre and compost, George called it “triple mix” and he began to offer it to landscapers and gardeners in and around Oakville. The year was 1962, and the bus was a “cost effective” combination office and delivery truck for George’s new company – Van Beek’s Garden Supplies.

Family Run

A lot has changed since 1962, but school buses are still yellow and Van Beek’s is still a family run business that believes in offering quality products at fair prices.

Now in two convenient locations, Van Beek’s is a recognized leader in custom soil mixes, supplying garden centres, golf courses, landscapers and gardeners throughout the Golden Horseshoe and GTA.
