Grass Sod
If you're trying to choose a specific type of grass sod for your new lawn, you need to spend some time determining soil conditions, traffic patterns and sun exposure before you settle on a variety. The overall color and texture of your new lawn is important as well.
Choosing Grass Sod Varieties for Your New Lawn
If you're ready to create a new lawn using grass sod, you need to spend some time looking at the drainage patterns and sun exposure of the ground in question. You also need to think about a productive topdressing (topsoil and fibre) to place under that sod. Different seed types require different amounts of sun and ground moisture. You also need to consider traffic patterns. If you have lots of kids and pets, then you'll need a more durable and hearty grass sod that won't wilt as soon as someone steps on it. Finally, you'll have to determine your own preferences for look and feel, and whether you want a lush green carpet or a tight and compact "golf green" surface.
Once you have chosen a grass sod variety such as Bermuda, fescue, Kentucky bluegrass or a blend, you'll need to find a garden supply that delivers a relatively weed-free, organically-grown product. At Van Beek's Garden Supply, we custom cut and deliver grass sod, grass seed such as Bermuda and topdressing to Southern Ontario homes, golf courses, businesses and construction projects.
