Van Beek’s offers a variety of firewood types that are characterized by their pleasurable smells and unique flame qualities that make them stand above the average fire log. Visit our store location to see our speciality woods, including:

• Applewood – A special burning capacity with a pleasant scent and reduced sparking.
• Birch – One of the most effective ways to start a campfire, birch wood is known for burning fast and should be complimented with slower burning woods, like oak.
• Hickory – A hardwood, it burns longer and gives off more heat.  It’s one of the most favoured woods because of its low smoking feature and its very enjoyable scent.
• Oak – A staple in many homes with fireplaces and a very popular specialty firewood.  As a hardwood, oak burns slowly and gives off better heat.
• Cherry – This wood burns at medium heat levels, and does not smoke much but sparks a moderate amount.  This is a very nice choice of wood if aroma is important to you.
• Mixed Blend – The best-selling option at Van Beeks is our blend of woods – both fast and slow burning – including maple, birch, beech and oak.  Our blends are well seasoned to increase the ease of starting, to increase brightness of flame and to yield longer-lasting flame and heat every time.  Offered in 12” and 16” lengths.
